Colin was appointed Consul General in November 2022. Prior to that he was First Secretary, Trade Policy, at the British High Commission, Wellington (2017-2022). Colin has also previously been posted to Iraq, Ethiopia, Somalia, Afghanistan and the UAE. Colin was awarded an MBE by Her Late Majesty The Queen for Services to Foreign Policy in the 2021 New Year Honours.
The Consul General is the senior UK official in a Consulate General, which is a subordinate office to the Embassy or High Commission, usually located in another major city. The Consul General represents the UK government and is typically responsible for consular and trade activities in their city or region as well as promoting the bilateral political relationship.
