Spanish tapas plates, sangria and wines served in a bustling bar with a trendy urban vibe. When we first opened the doors to MoVida Original, no one quite knew what to expectEST 2002. A little bar on a graffiti-covered lane, serving Spanish tapas and shared plates… But it worked. MoVida launched to critical acclaim, with chef Frank Camorra and his team introducing Melbourne – and Australia – to Spanish tapas and raciones.

The guys kick-started the trend for shared plates in Melbourne and are still setting benchmarks at Original, Aqui, Next Door, and Bar Tini. Each venue is unique, but they share a philosophy of celebrating Spanish produce, food, and culture through Australian produce, food, and culture, respecting both but constrained by neither. Born in Barcelona and raised in Australia, it always seemed to Frank that his calling to bring the best of both together. Having cut his teeth in some of Melbourne’s best kitchens, Frank travelled and worked across Spain, where the food and dining culture resonated so powerfully he knew he had to bring it back with him to Australia.

The aims at Frank’s MoVida venues have always been the same: to highlight and celebrate the best of Spanish produce, technique and tradition through the lens of modern Australian food culture, highlighting the amazing produce available locally with a Spanish sensibility.
