Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea, Madaba Governorate, Jordan

Floating in the Dead Sea is a wonderful experience, and the salt-water lake at the lowest point on Earth has been known for its supposed healing properties. Bobbing on the water and using the myriad resort facilities are really the main attractions here

The resort is laid out over seven hectares of gardens – you may feel uncomfortable at the sight of the sprinklers keeping the grass green in one of the world’s most water-starved regions. The creamy yellow brick is styled on Jerusalem’s older buildings, and while not entirely convincing, it blends pleasingly with the dramatically barren scenery. Ask for directions to your room, as the layout is not always intuitive. Some may also feel a little unnerved by the airport security-style metal detectors that guests must walk through upon entering the hotel.
