Mount Callaghan, located near Whistler, British Columbia, is a challenging and rewarding hike for experienced adventurers. The trail to the summit is approximately 25.4 kilometers round-trip, with an elevation gain of about 1,670 meters. Hikers can expect a journey of 8 to 10 hours, depending on pace and trail conditions. The route features alpine meadows, stunning lakes, forested paths, creek crossings, glaciers, and culminates in 360-degree mountain top views.
The trailhead is accessible via the Ring Lake Trail, which begins near Callaghan Lake. The hike involves crossing Callaghan Creek and meandering through old-growth cedar, Douglas fir, and mountain hemlock forests. Around the halfway point, hikers enter sub-alpine meadows, weaving through beautiful tarns as they gain vantage to the incredible high-country. Camping isn’t permitted in the Callaghan Conservancy, so this is a day hike.
