Mosquitos Waterfall, Lencois, State of Bahia, Brazil

One of the most beautiful waterfalls you will see in Parque Nacional da Chapada Diamantina, Mosquitos Waterfall has an impressive 50 m drop, surrounded by huge walls made of layers of ancient rock covered in lush vegetation. At its base, you can swim in the cool, dark pools or take a revitalizing shower under the falling water, and after climbing to the top, you can stand directly over the fall and look down for some amazing visuals.

To reach Mosquitos Waterfall, you have to trek through the privately-owned Fazenda Os Impossíveis, and if you get hungry, the owner will prepare you some delicious food. Sharing the name given to the small diamonds that were found in the area, not the bothersome insects, while you probably won’t see any of the precious stones, you might catch a glimpse of the king vultures that nest in the area.
