Montrose Beach

The golden sands of Montrose Beach stretch for three miles from Montrose to the North Esk River, with stunning views south to Scurdieness Lighthouse.

Montrose is a family beach with a handy promenade and car parking, plus shop and amusement centre. It also has a Seafront Splash play area for children, pools, pitch and putt and an ice cream parlour. The quirky Trail Pavilion, built in 1913, houses the public toilets, open at peak times.

There is a circular walk that heads along the length of the beach before returning via an inland route, visiting the fine North Water viaduct – now part of a cycle path. The walk begins from the car park at the Seafront Splash area. If the tide is sufficiently out, you can start by heading down the steps outside the pavilion onto the beach; at higher tides you can head north along the promenade.
