Montana State Capitol, Helena, Montana, USA

The State of Montana welcomes visitors to the Capitol in Helena and recognizes the educational value of such visits. Visitors may tour the “People’s House” on their own or may take advantage of official tours and presentations.

The Montana Historical Society offers 1-hour guided tours of the Capitol for student and tourist groups. These tours focus primarily on the art, architecture, and history of the building. They also touch lightly on the legislative process and other aspects of state government. The Governor’s Office welcomes visitors to tour the Hall of Governors and, when not in use, the elegant Governor’s Reception Room. These are located in the east wing of the second floor.

The Montana State Capitol is the state capitol of the U.S. state of Montana. It houses the Montana State Legislature and is located in the state capital of Helena at 1301 East Sixth Avenue. The building was constructed between 1896 and 1902 with wing-annexes added between 1909 and 1912.
