Miami ECOAdventures

We build memorable experiences and communities through well-designed parks and open spaces that are efficient, accessible, engaging and aesthetically pleasing, guided by our Parks Open Space Master Plan.

We offer year-round park and recreation programs for local children, adults and people with disabilities. Camps are held in the spring and summer during public school breaks. After-school activities are focused on fitness, nutrition and wellness, and developing an appreciation of nature, science and the cultural arts. We also maintain the median strips, road shoulders and causeways for County roadways, busways, Metrorail and Metromover.

Miami EcoAdventures, operated by the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department, is a gateway to the vibrant ecosystems of South Florida. These programs provide naturalist-guided experiences designed to foster environmental education and appreciation for the region’s unique habitats. Through hands-on adventures, participants are immersed in activities that combine outdoor exploration with conservation awareness.

Water-based activities are a highlight, offering opportunities to kayak, canoe, and snorkel in Biscayne Bay and the surrounding mangrove ecosystems. Expert guides share insights into the region’s marine life, coral reefs, and delicate coastal environments, ensuring each excursion is both fun and educational. On land, guided nature hikes and birdwatching tours showcase the area’s diverse flora and fauna, while activities like archery provide unique ways to connect with nature.

For families, Miami EcoAdventures offers seasonal nature camps tailored to children, focusing on environmental stewardship, wildlife education, and outdoor skills. Adults and community members can also participate in volunteer programs, such as EcoAction Days, which involve habitat restoration and other conservation efforts, promoting community-driven ecological care.

The adventures span multiple locations, including the A.D. Barnes Nature Center, Crandon Park, Bill Sadowski Park, and Arch Creek Park and Nature Center. Each venue offers its own distinct blend of activities, catering to the specific features of its environment. Whether exploring mangroves, hiking through forests, or engaging in educational workshops, visitors will find something inspiring. These experiences are a perfect way to connect with nature while learning to appreciate and protect South Florida’s natural treasures.
