
Mark Sutcliffe is the 59th and current Mayor of Ottawa, having taken office on November 15, 2022. He won the mayoral election with a strong majority, becoming the first Chinese Canadian and the first person from a visible minority group to hold the position in the city’s history.
Born and raised in Ottawa, Mark Sutcliffe spent over three decades working as a broadcaster and journalist before entering politics. He is known for his deep connection to the community and his commitment to public service. Alongside his career in media, he has been involved in various local business ventures and community organizations, highlighting his dedication to both economic growth and social engagement.
Mayor Sutcliffe lives in Ottawa’s Wellington Village with his family. He remains actively engaged in city affairs and volunteers with several organizations, continually striving to make Ottawa a vibrant, inclusive, and forward-thinking capital for all its residents.
