Matt Johnson
Head of Women’s Football Manchester United
Matt Johnson is currently the Head of Women’s Football at Manchester United. He was appointed to the role in 2024, succeeding Polly Bancroft. Prior to this, Johnson served as Operations Director for the Manchester United Foundation for nearly a decade. With his extensive experience in football coaching and operations, including being a UEFA ‘A’ licensed coach, Johnson has played a vital role in bridging the gap between youth and senior squads within the women’s team. His focus has been on enhancing recruitment strategy and player retention, aiming to build a strong future for Manchester United Women.
He is known for his excellent communication skills, which have helped him connect with both the players and the fanbase, creating a collaborative atmosphere during his leadership. Johnson’s appointment marks a significant step in Manchester United’s strategy to develop their women’s football division
