Massif de l’Esterel, Fréjus, Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur, France

By borrowing the “Corniche d’Or” seaside road between Mandelieu and Saint-Raphael, this amazing volcanic rock massif offers the view its jagged relief of red rocks. The view plunges into a multitude of islets, coves shaded by umbrella pines with a turquoise sea in the background. The Esterel massif, which rises to more than 600 m, is known as a huge forested and protected massif.

The immense mass of eruptive rocks of the Esterel plunges into the Mediterranean in huge blocks of red color. Located along this coast, rightly called the Corniche d’Or, Saint-Raphaël is an important seaside resort. Not far away, the town of Fréjus shines with the splendor of its ancient past but also with a rich medieval and episcopal past. Located in the foothills of the Alps, the country of Fayence consists of small villages clinging to the slopes of the mountains, strongholds and castles that once protected the invaders from the sea.
