Martiros Saryan House-Museum, Yerevan, Armenia
Appreciate the paintings and graphic art of Armenia’s most celebrated painter at House Museum of Martiros Saryan, a house with a studio built especially for the painter in 1932 by Soviet Armenian authorities. It was expanded into museum during the artist’s lifetime in 1967 by another benefactor, Mark Gregorian.
With many pieces on display, this three-story museum details the life of the French-fauvist-influenced painter, widely seen as the father of modern Armenian painting and immortalized on the 20,000 dram banknote. Start your museum tour on the third floor, as this level houses the earliest work.
