Maritime Museum Of Douala, Cameroon
Created to collect, preserve and showcase the cultural heritage of the Cameroonian maritime landscape while revealing its evolution over the years, this magnificent display of contemporary architectural prowess located at Rue de l’Hopital Bonanjo, showcases the country’s maritime history through a rich collection of artifacts, objects of historic and artistic value such as photographs, sculptures, maps, paintings, videos, documents, archival materials and multimedia animations.
One of the most fascinating exhibitions in the museum is the navigation simulator which is available to professionals and trainees serving as an excellent teaching tool that can re-enact a sailing scene while bringing to life some sailing techniques. Its thematically planned collections cover themes such as: man in his natural environment, the evolution of various ships in the world, Cameroonian ports in general and the history of trade and its development in the Cameroonian ports.
