Margravial Opera House, Unesco Site, Bayreuth, Germany

In the 18th century, an opera house was built in the small capital of Bayreuth. Above all the Markgräfin Wilhelmine operated the new building with emphasis. In just four years of construction the opera house was built from 1744 on plans by Joseph St. Pierre. The façade design was based on the examples of Upper Italy, and the opera house distinguished the neighbouring houses.
