As Ambassador of Portugal to the United Kingdom, I would like to reiterate the determination, my own and of all who work here, to remain faithful to the duty to uphold the interests of Portugal and its people in the United Kingdom, whilst also aiming to strengthening and deepening the historical bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

Portugal and the United Kingdom share the same principles and democratic values, the same centuries old civilizational roots, a tradition of bilateral trade which is reinforced every year. It is in this framework of a deep link that covers various areas of our collective lives that we will work diligently to reach the solutions and results which serve our common interests.

The human and professional quality of the compatriots who make up the Portuguese community in the United Kingdom is recognized by many, of which I am, naturally, very proud.

I wish, if I may be so bold, the Embassy of Portugal to be the “home” of Portugal in the United Kingdom. That the Portuguese people find what they are looking for in it, and that our British friends recognize that we seek to be competent and constructive in our work, and committed to the common good.
