Mangal das Garcas, Belem, State of Para, Brazil

The Mangal das Garças, opened on 12 January 2005, is located on the banks of the Guamá River in the historic center of Belém do Pará. The ecological park is a result of the revitalization of an area of 40.000m², a summary of the Amazonian environment in the heart of the state capital.

The lowland forests, the animals of the region and more than three hundred species of native trees are present in space. The features: The Amazon Museum of Navigation; Manjar das Garcas, one of the best restaurants in the capital; Nursery of the Aningas, where the visitor has direct contact with an impressive amount of birds; the Belém Lighthouse, 47 meters high, the monumental tower-viewpoint of Mangal das Garças offers two levels of observation.

The Butterfly Garden (José Márcio Ayres Reserve), an area of 1.400 m², the environment is the first of its kind in North and is already touted as the largest in Brazil; Orquidiário; the breeding and nursery plants; Time Warehouse, where visitors can buy plants, crafts, books and CDs of Pará artists and you can enjoy an on-site fine coffee service.
