Widely recognised as a Harry Colt masterpiece, the course spans an incredible 240 acres of moorland and heathland that has to be seen to be believed. Manchester Golf Club, is a golf club in Middleton, Greater Manchester, England designed by Harry Shapland Colt. Originally called “The Manchester St Andrews Golf Club”, to distinguish it from another club called “The Manchester Golf Club”, founded as early as 1818.
The Manchester Golf Club has been my home since a junior and I am honoured to be Captain in 2021. Throughout the year, I look forward to welcoming members, visitors, societies and organisations – old and new – and sharing our inspiring venue. I am certain you will enjoy our 240 acres of golfing heaven and receive a warm welcome from all at the club at all times. Along the way, I hope to create new memories, share stories and raise important funds for my charity of the year – the MND Association. Set in over 240 acres of moorland and heathland, The Manchester Golf Club has welcomed golfers of all categories for over 100 years. We have hosted European Tour Qualification tournaments and major amateur events including the Reid Trophy, Northern Counties Championship and English Women’s Open Amateur Championship – just one of the reasons why members enjoy an extensive competition programme each year.
As a private club with strict limits on membership numbers, our guests are an important contributor to everything we hold dear – from fantastic course conditions to beautiful wildlife; to a warm welcome and appreciation for everyone who chooses to visit Hopwood Cottage. In addition our 247 acres, Manchester Golf Club guests will find one of the best Professional Golf operations in the country with state-of-the-art facilities including the Putting Lab, Golf Performance Centre and Workshop – all manned by a well-qualified team known as The House of Golf.
Manchester Golf Academy
There is even more to come in 2022 and 2023 with the creation of The Manchester Golf Academy, featuring a 350-yard driving range (with undercover and on-grass bays), short game area with 575m2 green and teaching studio. will provide some of the finest practice facilities in the region. Designed by a world renowned Harry Colt Specialist, the Academy will be available to members and guests from 2022. A strictly limited number of places are available for people wishing to join our club as an Academy Member. As well as having the opportunity to practice on outstanding facilities, members will receive discounts on green fees, drinks and food, along with access to the superb House of Golf operation.
