Ma-Loango Regional Museum, Pointe Noire, Congo

The Mâ Loango Museum is located 25 kilometers from the economic capital of Pointe-Noire in the south of the Republic of Congo. This group of historical sites constitutes, with its collections, the most important base for the historical and scientific study of the Congo’s past.

Erected at 1 km from Loango’s main voice, in the middle of a verdant plot of palms and coconut palms, this former royal palace was home to Loango Moe Poaty III, king of the kingdom of Loango who ruled from 1931 to to May 3, 1975; since 1982 he has been dedicated to a cultural and educational destiny.

Its main function is to collect and present objects and testimonies whose historical, archaeological, ethnographic or artistic value is intended to serve as an educational support for Congolese culture, with the aim of preserving a long cultural heritage.
