LWL Industrial Museum Zollern

Industrial museum in former colliery with art nouveau building portal & original machinery displays.

Icon of industrial heritage

The colliery Zeche Zollern in Dortmund is one of the most beautiful testimonies to Germany’s industrial past. The mine was built from 1898 to 1904. The engine house with its stained-glass Art Nouveau entrance is an industrial heritage icon. It is due to this building that the entire complex was saved from demolition in the 1960s and industrial buildings were recognised as monuments. Marvel the architecture of the open cast facilities, climb the pithead frame, look behind the magnificent brickwork façades and discover the working environment of miners in those days.
