History of Lublin Museum dates back to the early twentieth century. And is associated with the person of Jerome Łopaciński , middle school teacher and member-correspondent of the Academy of Sciences, the interests of the historian, ethnographer, bibliophile and lover of antiquity. Thanks to his efforts in 1901. Organized two exhibitions in Lublin. The exhibition of works of art and antiquities was opened on June 4 in the building podominikańskim. Collected about 4000 exhibits – drawings, paintings, sculptures, handicraft products, documents, prints, manuscripts, archaeological sites, craft, weapons, coins, medals, stamps, maps. For industrial and agricultural exhibition, opened on June 22, was the department ludoznawczy where presented folk costumes, wood, ritual art.
