Lower Oneonta Falls and Trail, Cascade Locks, Oregon, USA
This is a clearly marked trail that is great for kids. From the trailhead, you’ll go uphill on a singletrack path through the open forest giving a great view of the surrounding forested areas. After the initial uphill, the trail levels out with an optional side loop that provides a stunning view of the gorge. This trail will take you right to the edge of a very steep drop off so hold on to little ones.
Continuing on will bring you to a bridge over the stunning Oneonta Falls. The view is amazing as the falls drop into a narrow, yet steep and deep canyon that flows on to the Columbia river. The trail then heads uphill again through some switchbacks before leveling off for a pleasant, level hike back towards the Columbia River. You are again presented with an amazing view of the gorge before heading back down to the highway and to Horsetail Falls.
