Liu Kou Hot Spring, Haiduan Township, Taitung County, Taiwán

The Liukuo Hot Spring is located next to 184.5K, Nanheng Cross-island Highway, Haiduan Township, Taitung County. Years ago, construction workers of the Nanheng Highway discovered the hot spring, with which they set up six bathing pools for some enjoyable time after work. That is also the origin of its name, “Liukuo,” meaning “six pools.”

A comprehensive renovation project for the area was carried out in 2008 by the Administration Office. Today, visitors can easily have a cliff-side bathing experience in Nanheng, or enjoy the stalactite views on mountain walls.

Liukuo, a wild-stream sodium bicarbonate hot spring, is one of the local Bishan Hot Springs. Its spring water comes from a stalactite cave beside the New Wulu River and the New Wulu Riverbed. At the hot spring outlet, water temperature can be as high as 70 to 80 Celsius degrees. Beware of the high temperature before you jump in!
