Les Brigittines
Les Brigittines is the performing arts centre of the City of Brussels. It stimulates contemporary choreographic creations through residences of Brussels artists, a season of performances, various festivals (including its international festival in August) and neighborhood projects in cooperation with the local residents.
This lavish Art Nouveau brasserie will, first and foremost, delight the eye! You will also find it impossible to resist the mouth-watering recipes rustled up by chef Dirk Myny. He is a genuine Brusselian, whose exuberant personality gives character to his traditional, market fresh dishes.
Located right at the bottom of the Sablon, one of the most central part of old Brussels, what strikes you first is the typical, out of time decoration, very “art nouveau” with old polished wood, a beautiful bar and dimmed lights. It feels good during our cold and grey Belgian winters, and it feels like a jump back in times the rest of the year.
The food is typical, classical and sometimes plain old fashion but everything is cooked perfectly and homemade. Personally I go there for the amazingly good “Vol-au-vent”, and at the right season for the “Zenne pot”, THE signature dish of Dirk Myny, who apart from being one of the most inspired chefs in Brussels, is also a very keen wine lover (especially anything good in magnum!)
The wine selection is particularly strong on Alsace but you find a good mix of everything, rather French but always with names you can trust, and most important even though the list is not massive, every wine is a true gastronomic companion to the hearty food the restaurant offers
