Lascaux II, Montignac, Aquitaine, France 

Located on the left bank of the Vézère , the cave of Lascaux is one of the major witnesses of Prehistory . Rich in rock paintings , the cave was adorned during the Magdalenian period.

Discovered in 1940 by four teenagers (Marcel Ravidat, Jacques Marsal, Georges Agnel and Simon Coencas), the Lascaux cave is decorated with large red cows, black deer, yellow horses and black bulls.

One of the most famous images is the man with the bird’s head .
