Langue De Barbarie, Saint-Louis, Senegal

The National Park of the Langue de Barbarie The National Park of the Langue de Barbarie is located south of La Langue de Barbarie, in Gandiolais. Covering 2,000 hectares, this park created in 1976, includes the estuary of the Senegal River , the sandy end of the Langue de Barbarie, the marigots bordering the continent as well as two islets located in the middle of the river. It is a territory of a fragile and remarkable balance.

As soon as you leave St. Louis, you will be surprised by the variety of landscapes and the friendliness of the atmosphere. Before boarding, you will cross the backwater where the women amass the salt that leaves the river while evaporating. Animated by their markets, you will discover, along the river, the villages of market gardeners and fishermen located in the perimeter of the Park.
