Langen Foundation

Lovers of art and architecture should definitely include a visit here on their schedules: At a former NATO base on the Lower Rhine, the so-called rocket station, just 25 minutes by car from the city centre of Düsseldorf, a comprehensive architectural experience awaits you straight from the pen of the Japanese star architect Tadao Andō.

Andō created a masterpiece made of glass, concrete and steel on the grounds of the Insel Hombroich Museum, a vast privately initiated art and cultural space. In the two architecturally different interconnected building sections, interior merges with exterior, art meets nature. Since the unusual ensemble opened in September 2004, it has hosted world class exhibitions and events. The building was donated by its patron Marianne Langen.
