Lake Ala Archa, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
Its name comes from the Kyrgyz word “archa” meaning “juniper” because of the large amounts of juniper you’ll find within the park. However, its stunning mountain scenery is often compared to that of the Alps, earning it the nickname, “the Alps of Central Asia.”
Ala-Archa is a popular destination in Kyrgyzstan silk road for afternoon picnics and weekend getaways to just relax and enjoy the outdoors. There are also lots of trails available for hikers that would like to explore the park as well as a base camp set up for climbers that want to tackle the park’s various peaks and glaciers, the most famous destination of which is the Ak Sai Glacier.
Ala Archa National Park is located 40 kilometers south of Bishkek.
