L’Abbaye St-Pierre, Moissac, Midi-Pyrenees, France

Moissac is a town in the department of Tarn et Garonne which is located at the crossroads of Guyenne, Quercy and Languedoc, it is on the Tarn less than five kilometers from its confluence with the Garonne. The city is about thirty kilometers northwest of Montauban and sixty kilometers southwest of Cahors .

Moissac developed in the Middle Ages around an important monastery: the Abbey of Saint Pierre de Moissac .

The city was for a very long time a place of passage and an important commercial center with its fluvial port which shipped products (wines, etc) and goods bound for Bordeaux .
