Kurgan Regional Drama Theater, Kurganskaya oblast, Russia

The theater of drama is the same age as the region. It was formed together with the region in 1943. The building was built in 1953. The ceremonial building with columns, typical for architecture of the 50s, harmoniously blended into the architectural ensemble of the city center. The building of the theater is also used for various ceremonial events.

Who would have thought at the end of the 19th century that one of the last streets – Novo-Zapolnaya in tens of years will become one of the central streets of the city of Kurgan and it will have an architectural ensemble, whose adornment will be the building of a dramatic theater.

And it all began so …. Known at the time Kurgan businessman AN Balakshin in 1897 raises the question of building a room under KOMOSH. To reduce the cost of construction and as a propaganda for adobe buildings, it is proposed to make it from adobe. The plot for future construction was purchased at the corner of Novo-Zapolnaya Street and Troitsky Lane (Gogol-Lenin), next to the Spiritual School. With the construction of an adobe house in a hurry, tk.

In the autumn of 1901 in Kurgan was supposed to take place the 1 st All-Siberian Congress of buttermakers, and I wanted by this time to have my own premises. September 7, 1901 on the solemn day of the opening of the congress of dairy owners and butterfood exhibitions, in the presence of the congress participants, the building of the Kurgan department of the Moscow Union of Artists was consecrated. It should be noted that the success of the Kurgan oil was very large – it was served to the imperial table, both in St. Petersburg and in London itself. However, after the October Revolution, the former building of COMOSH fell into disrepair.
