Kunstmuseum Stuttgart

Art is past, present and future

We believe that the encounter with art changes our thinking. Art shapes the view of the world and of ourselves and can thus also change the relationships between people. People have always given shape to their ideas, emotions and beliefs in works of the visual arts. We give space to this idea in our museum of modern and contemporary art.

Our exhibitions invite you to view and create impulses to discover our past and present in a new and different way and to think about the future. With our exhibitions, we react to current social developments and influence public discourse.

A museum in motion
The Kunstmuseum Stuttgart is a lively place of exchange, open and transparent for all – a place that promotes creativity and aesthetic experience. We want to continue to make our museum tangible and tangible for everyone in the future. The Kunstmuseum Stuttgart creates a cultural, social, interdisciplinary place for partnership and participation. We share the knowledge we acquire by collecting, preserving and researching art with our visitors – regardless of their education, social or ethnic origin. We see our museum as a diverse, cosmopolitan platform for learning with each other and from each other. It invites you to encounters that can inspire, inspire, but also irritate and leave questions.

Rooted in the city and society
The Kunstmuseum Stuttgart is located right in the heart of the city. Its firm anchoring in the region and in society has made it an important landmark of the state capital. All citizens are welcome here. The symbol of this is the open architecture with the widely visible glass cube.

Our art collection is closely interwoven with the history of Stuttgart and the region. In addition, national as well as international positions can be discovered and experienced directly.

Accessible to all
The Kunstmuseum Stuttgart is aware of its responsibility as an educational institution. Through the development of experimental formats, new target groups are constantly being involved. We are increasingly using digital possibilities to increase our presence and our network and to reduce inhibitions. We want to be a barrier-free place that makes art, culture and education possible for all people.
