CODE 1, former Permanent, KODE’s handicrafts and design building opened May 23, 2017 after two years of rehabilitation.
Here you can experience Silver Treasure , CODE permanent exhibition of jeweler art from Bergen and Singer Collection , an art and antikvitetssamling with European and Asian antiques and paintings by old masters. Here is also the 18 meter high sculpture Helix 18m, an ordering work by Bård Breivik.
CODE 1 has a new museum shop focusing on design and interior, new restaurant, new children’s room and a combined party and conference hall. Later, China’s collection and new exhibitions with crafts and design will also be opened.
If you’re hungry, you’ll find restaurant Bien Centro with Italian focus on the first floor.
CODE 1 was designed by architect Henry Bucher and was completed when the Vestlandske Kunstindustrimuseum finally got its permanent building, in 1896.
