Kocatepe Mosque, Çankaya, Ankara, Turkey

Constructed during the late 20th century, the Kocatepe Mosque is considered to be the biggest mosque in Ankara. Though initial plans of building the mosque date back to the 1940s, the mosque was completed in 1987 featuring Ottoman architectural elements, after undergoing several phases of construction.

The mosque itself is located in the heart of the city of Ankara and is regarded by many a prominent landmark. It is also capable of accommodating up to 24,000 people and measures up to a length and width of over 60 metres. The mosque also features four minarets that stand up to 88 metres and beautiful cascading domes give the mosque a truly majestic appearance.
