Khobar Sea Front

The waterfront lies on the Amir Turki Street within the public parks of Al Khobar’s prime corniche area, a vibrant section of the city surrounded by five-star hotels, restaurants, and shopping centers.

Defining a replacement dimension in tourism and recreational services, it’s the primary mixed leisure entertainment and recreational development within the oil rich Eastern Province of the dominion of Saudi Arabia, providing over 1 million square foot of mixed-use space and comprise the subsequent components:

• A shopping mall ahead of a standard Souk
• a Sports Complex
• a Marina & Club located near the waterfront

Three components of the project combined to provide a unique mix of activities that will appeal to a broad audience. However, the challenge for KABC was to make the destination a one-of-a-kind destination that is more than just the sum of its parts.

Leisure destinations that are able to draw customers from overlapping markets during different hours of the day must have a synergistic interaction between all three aspects within an interesting pedestrian environment in order to be successful. As a result, you create a unique experience for the customer and establish a way of interacting that is based on the specific context and allows for sustainable connections.

The landscape design is woven into the program and becomes a connective element that merges the three components into one memorable destination. Landscape design is predicated on the complex geometrical and calligraphic elements of Islamic art, which are particularly well expressed within the art types of calligraphy and geometry. Observed from above, the calligraphy is read as an emblem, but from ground level, the pedestrian will find a kaleidoscope of interconnected Arabic references and meanings.
