Khabarovsk Krai Puppet Theater, Khabarovskiy kray, Russia 

In Khabarovsk the puppet theater existed in 1920-1930s, 1950-1960s.

The present puppet theater was established in 1997. In autumn of this year, a small troupe of puppet artists began to show performances in kindergartens and schools in Khabarovsk, and on December 27, the play “Naughty Duckling” based on the play by N. Gernet opened the curtain for the first time in the building of the puppet theater. In different years, the directors collaborated with the directors E. Novichkov, Yu. Aseev, Yu. Utkin, L. Lechner, P. Kozec, K. Kuchikin.

Almost from the day of the founding of the puppet theater, artists such as Y. Vladimirova, O. Gritsaev, A. Gavrilov, N. Ovcharenko, N. Fedoseykina, S. Chizhov work there.

During these years over forty performances were staged. These are the most different names for different age categories of the viewer. The theater is sure that a small spectator must be educated on the best examples of national culture, live Russian.

The Puppet Theater is actively touring the Khabarovsk Territory and beyond. Sovetskaya Gavan, Vladivostok, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Nikolaevsk-on-Amur, Chegdomyn, Sakhalin, Chita, Ulan-Ude – this is not a complete list of cities and towns where the puppet theater showed its performances. Among the significant theater projects – cooperation with the South Korean festival “Blue Bird”, a tour in Seoul, participation in the XYIII festival of the Association of theaters for children and youth.

The Khabarovsk Puppet Theater creates that special children’s world where the Little Man is given a unique opportunity to discover the Art of the Theater. The puppet theater helps parents in raising a child, widens the horizon of the baby and enriches it, forming a thinking and feeling, loving and active person.
