The acropolis, which forms the heart of the city, is built on a 152 meter high hill. The north side of the city wall was left from the Middle Ages.

The long wall extends from the north side of the harbor to the steep slope beyond Dalyan Village. Mausolos, the famous satrap of the Karia region, where the northern part of the city was situated in Kaunos, was built during the reign of Mausolos – one of the seven wonders of the world – in Bodrum (Halikarnassos). The walls in the north-west direction are from the Hellenistic Period (323 -30 BC) and the walls extending to the lima from the Archaic Period (750-475 BC).

Acropolis has an antique city theater on the edge. One of the building remains in the western direction of the theater belongs to the basilica type church and the other remains in the city are the remains of the Roman bath and the temple.

The rock tombs, also seen from Dalyan, It was built in the 20th century and later in the Roman period.

The sculpted cavities that you can see from the sky are the places where the giant fires that burned to the ancient lima for carrying cargo to Caunos served as lanterns.
