One block south of the town’s Archaeology Museum, turn right onto Şeyh Şaban Veli Caddesi and follow the road up to the scant remains of Kastamonu’s castle. Parts of the building date from Byzantine times, but most belong to Seljuk and Ottoman reconstructions
