Kaohsiung Martyrs’ Shrine, Gushan District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwán
Located on the mountainside of Shoushan, Kaohsiung Martyrs’ Shrine that honors the fallen soldiers has recently become a popular spot where you can get the best city views of this southern harbor city. The LOVE sign placed on top of the viewing platform makes it a favorite backdrop for pre-wedding photoshoot.
The martyrs’ shrine was converted from a shinto shrine into a Chinese palatial architecture after the war, where the Japanese stone lanterns that lead up the shrine are still retained. From the viewing platform, visitors can take in a spectacular view with Kaohsiung Harbor, Gushan, Cijin as well as the downtown Kaohsiung in the distance. During the day, the magnificent city can be seen bordered by the blue Pacific Ocean on its west side. When the night falls, the whole city is drenched in lustrous lights and vibrant colors. Accompanied by the huge LOVE sign, lovers get to indulge in a romantic escape surrounded by pairs of adorable monkey sculptures cuddling each other, adding to the charm of Kaohsiung Martyrs’ Shrine.
