Kalamaki Beach

This stretch of beach on the eastern end of Laganas Bay is famous for its fine white sand and mountainous views. It’s part of the Zakynthos Marine Park and is a nesting ground for the endangered Caretta Caretta turtles. If you’re lucky, you might see the turtles nesting and hatching between May and October. Even though some areas are cordoned off and sea sports aren’t allowed to protect the turtles, there’s still plenty to do here. The shallow gentle waters are great for swimming and families, there are sunbeds for rent, plus restaurants and resorts.
