Kakum National Park Entrance Gate Ghana, Cape Coast, Ghana
Kakum National Park is a national park located in the African country of Ghana . Established in 1931 as a reserve, it was declared a national park in 1992, after an initial investigation of the avifauna was carried out. It is located 30 kilometers north of Cape Coast and Elmina near the small town of Abrafo. The whole area is covered with tropical forest.
In the park, park rangers are specially trained in the medical and cultural importance of local vegetation. The Kakum National Park contains rare animals in danger of extinction buffalo forest, civets, a variety of birds and more than 500 species of butterflies.
