JT Batson

JT Batson is the CEO and Secretary General of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), a role he assumed in September 2022. With a deep-rooted passion for soccer developed in his youth, Batson has been actively involved in the sport at various levels, from playing and refereeing to coaching and administrative roles. Growing up in Georgia, he played for and later supported the Augusta Arsenal Soccer Club, where his experiences shaped his commitment to grassroots soccer and leadership. His innovative mindset and dedication to fostering collaboration make him a significant figure in American soccer​

Professionally, Batson has had an impactful career at the intersection of media, advertising, and technology. He co-founded Hudson MX, a tech company specializing in financial software for the advertising industry, and served as its CEO. His early career included key roles at Mozilla, Rubicon Project, and Mediaocean, where he gained expertise in scaling businesses and solving complex challenges. His efforts in soccer governance extend to helping establish the U.S. Soccer Development Fund, aimed at supporting the growth of players, coaches, and referees​

A Stanford University graduate in Political Science, Batson has maintained a connection to academia and mentorship, contributing to initiatives like Stanford’s design and business programs. Outside soccer, he supports the arts and entrepreneurship as a board member for the New York City Ballet and StartOut, a non-profit fostering LGBTQ+ entrepreneurship. His leadership in U.S. Soccer comes at a pivotal moment, with the United States co-hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2026, presenting opportunities for transformative growth in the sport​

The United States Soccer Federation (USSF)

The United States Soccer Federation, commonly referred to as U.S. Soccer, is a 501 nonprofit organisation. The governing body for soccer in the United States. Founded in 1913, it is one of the oldest national soccer organisations in the world and is a member of FIFA, the international governing body for soccer. U.S. Soccer oversees all aspects of the sport in the country, including professional leagues, grassroots development, referee programs, coaching education, and national teams.

U.S. Soccer is responsible for the operations of both the men’s and women’s national teams. While the U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT) has been a steady presence in global tournaments, the U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) is one of the most successful teams in the history of the sport, with numerous FIFA Women’s World Cup titles and Olympic gold medals. Beyond the national teams, U.S. Soccer plays a vital role in fostering the sport’s growth domestically, providing resources for youth soccer organizations, and managing professional development initiatives.

Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USSF is led by a president, CEO, and board of directors. Current CEO JT Batson, appointed in 2022, brings a vision of innovation and inclusivity to the organization. The USSF also administers development programs such as the U.S. Soccer Development Fund, aimed at creating opportunities for players, referees, and coaches.
