Jimmy Neissa

Chairman of Rothschild & Co in North America

Jimmy Neissa is a powerful example of how vision, perseverance and integrity can shape a truly remarkable professional journey. Born and raised in Boston, he enlisted in the U.S. Army after high school, a choice that speaks to early commitment and discipline.

After his service, he pursued a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting at McCombs School of Business at University of Texas at Austin (class of ’85).  He then continued his education with an MBA at Harvard Business School, reflecting the kind of lifelong learning that would become a hallmark of his professional ethos.

Jimmy built a robust career in investment banking—starting at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ) and later rising to global roles at UBS Securities, where he served as Co-Head of Global M&A and later Joint Global Head of Investment Banking.  In August 2016, he joined Rothschild & Co as Head of North America, ready to lead its expansion across the region.

As Partner and Chairman of Rothschild & Co North America, Jimmy brings more than 30 years of experience advising clients across North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia — a testament to his global outlook and strategic mindset.  Under his leadership, he emphasised independence, long-term relationships and integrity in an industry too often defined by short-term gains. He once said that he was “thrilled and humbled” to join the firm whose guiding principles mirrored his own philosophy of business.

Beyond deals and boardrooms, Jimmy’s story inspires because it shows how foundational values matter. He and his wife Janet have endowed scholarships and professorships at his alma mater McCombs, Harvard Business School, and NYU Langone—an expression of his belief that opportunity and education can transform lives.  Jimmy also serves on advisory boards and gives back through philanthropic engagement, reminding us that leadership is as much about lifting others as it is about personal ascent.

In short, Jimmy Neissa teaches us a powerful lesson: that success isn’t just about climbing peaks, but about carrying others upward, staying curious, acting ethically, and embracing the long view. His life story is an invitation to lead with purpose, persist with passion, and invest not only in business results but in people and principles.

Rothschild & Co in North America

Founded more than two centuries ago, Rothschild & Co traces its roots to Mayer Amschel Rothschild, who in the late 18th century laid the foundation of what would become a global financial institution. From those humble beginnings in Frankfurt to a network spanning the globe, the firm has grown by staying true to core values: trust, integrity and expert advice.

With over 200 years at the heart of world financial markets, Rothschild & Co has become more than just a financial services group. It is a symbol of enduring culture, of combining family-control with global ambition, and of serving clients with a long-term perspective. Their mantra of adding meaningful difference to clients, communities and the planet speaks to a higher purpose than mere profits.

Rothschild & Co’s business is built around three pillars: Global Advisory, Wealth & Asset Management, and Alternative Assets (Five Arrows). Through these lenses, they advise corporations, governments, institutions and families — bringing insight, calm in volatility, and strategic wisdom. Across mergers & acquisitions, restructuring, capital markets and wealth preservation, the firm leverages its heritage of independence and its network of professionals to guide clients with conviction.

What makes their journey truly motivating is how they have sustained relevance and integrity through change. From the industrial age to the digital era, from family banking to global advisory, Rothschild & Co has adapted while maintaining its essence. As they say: “Having been at the centre of the world’s financial markets for over 200 years, our expertise, intellectual capital and global network enable us to provide a distinct perspective”

For anyone seeking inspiration, Rothschild & Co’s story offers lessons: build for the long-term, anchor in values, embrace transformation, and commit to service beyond self. In an age of instant results and flashing headlines, their quiet steadfastness reminds us that true leadership often means enduring, thoughtful, principled work.
