In 1987, when the city of Frankfurt sought to construct a new building for the municipal utilities, they encountered foundations of houses from the former Judengasse, Europe’s oldest Jewish ghetto. Following public controversies, a museum was established with a portion of the findings. This museum underwent a transformation in 2016, honored with the Museum Prize by the Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Hessen-Thüringen.
