Jens Bangs Stenhus, Aalborg, Northern Denmark Region, Denmark

This renaissance house is one of Aalborg’s largest and most photographed historical sites. With five floors and a distinctive decoration, Jens Bangs Stenhus was a focal point for today’s citizenship in Aalborg.

The building was built in 1624 as a response to the then mayor and Jens Bang’s half brother Jørgen Olufsen’s farm, and together with the city’s skyline of Aalborg, the city skyline. The house was thus the first sight they met when they came to town. Jens Bang lived in the house until his death in 1644. Svane Apoteket was located in Jens Bangs Stenhus from 1666 – 2014. It is not possible to enter Jens Bangs Stenhus today, but in agreement with the Aalborg Historical Museum it is possible to get up under the roof and experience the Pharmacy Collection , where there is a tour every Saturday during the high season.
