Javier Bardají Hernando

Chief Executive Officer of Atresmedia Corporación, member of its Executive Committee, and Trustee of the Atresmedia Foundation.

Born in Barcelona in 1966, he holds a PhD in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Navarra (2003) and a degree in Information Sciences from the University of Navarra (1985-1990). He completed the PDD (1995) and PADE (2015) programs in Business Management at IESE. In 2019, he undertook the Advanced Management Program in Digital Transformation (IESE). He has been the Chief Executive Officer of Atresmedia since June 2022. From March 2010 to June 2022, he served as General Director of Atresmedia TV, overseeing the audiovisual business (Antena3, La Sexta, Neox, Nova, Mega, Atreseries, and Atresplayer Premium), including AVOD and SVOD aspects, as well as international content sales.

Until March 2010, he was General Director of Multimedia, responsible for the Digital area. Prior to that, he was Director of Corporate Communication and Marketing for the Atresmedia Group, where he initiated the Group’s first CSR policies. Previously, he was Content Director at Antena 3, coinciding with the incorporation of Grupo Planeta de Agostini as a reference shareholder of the company (2003-2004). Before that, he was Deputy General Director of the Audiovisual Area at Grupo Vocento, which encompassed television production companies, regional channels, the digital television Net TV, and the radio network Punto Radio. He was also Director of Editorial Coordination and Institutional Relations at Vocento. In 2002, he was Executive President and CEO of ATLAS, a company within the MEDIASET Group that managed Tele 5’s news broadcasts and operated as an entertainment audiovisual production company and news agency. Earlier, he was Deputy General Director of Corporate Affairs at MEDIASET, overseeing the Communication and Institutional Relations Division, as well as the Research and Studies Department. In 1990, he joined EL MUNDO (Unidad Editorial) as Marketing Director and participated in the launch and establishment of the newspaper until 1995. He also worked for a year in Italy in the marketing area of the RCS Group, which owns EL MUNDO, with the leading newspapers Corriere della Sera and Gazzetta dello Sport, as well as their magazine division.

He regularly engages in teaching activities as a Professor of the Master’s in Media Business Management at the University of Navarra. He also teaches Business and Structure of the Audiovisual System at the University of Villanueva. He is a member of the Television Academy and the author of several publications, including “The Management of Creativity in TV: The Globomedia Case” (Eunsa) and “From Antena 3 to Atresmedia through LaSexta” (Deusto).

He is a trustee of the Atresmedia Foundation. He serves as an Advisor for the digital startup Repscan, which specializes in privacy and the defense of digital rights, and for Livall, a company specialized in sustainable transport and mobility.
