Jardín Nacional Shinjuku Gyoen, Shinjuku-ku, Japan

Shinjuku Gyoen is a park that sits between Shinjuku and Shibuya districts. This park occupies an area of 58.3 hectares. The shamans bequeathed this island to Lord Naitō of Tsuruga in the Edo period, who completed a garden in 1772. In 1906 it became a garden under the management of the Japan Imperial Household Agency. Today it is familiar to many people. The garden combines three different styles: a classic French and English landscape in the north; and in the south, a traditional Japanese garden. The French garden has banana trees, while the English garden has tulips.
