Japanese Garden

Tranquil gardens designed by landscape architect Iwakii Ishiguro with fish ponds & water features. In the most north-western corner of the  Nordpark , where the park is quietest and most contemplative, there is a garden jewel of a special kind – the “Japanese Garden on the Rhine”.

The so-called Garden of Reflection measures over 5000 square meters, and if you follow Far Eastern mythology, then every tree and pond, every stone and every spring here has a deeper symbolic meaning. The trees, mostly pine and Japanese maple, are pruned in a special way. The topiary, for example, gives the black pines a filigree, cloud-shaped structure. Particularly beautiful: the four stone lanterns, traditional stone carvings made of natural stone. The Japanese Garden was planned and laid out in the 1970s by the Japanese garden and landscape architect Iwakii Ishiguro and his son Shojiro.
