Jack Crompton Mayor Whistler

Jack Crompton is the current mayor of the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) in British Columbia, Canada. He has deep roots in Whistler, with his grandparents, Ray and Marg Crompton, being among the original shareholders in the Garibaldi Lift Co. in the 1960s. Crompton spent much of his childhood visiting Whistler and moved there permanently in 1998. He is married to Carolyn, and together they have four children. The family resides in the same house built by his grandparents in Alta Vista.

Before entering politics, Crompton was involved in the transportation industry, serving as the General Manager at Whistler Resort Cabs and later as CEO at Ridebooker, a company specializing in transportation services.  He pursued a Master in Public Policy, which has informed his approach to governance.  Crompton’s political career includes serving on the Board of Directors for the Municipal Insurance Association of British Columbia since 2016.

He was first elected as mayor of Whistler in 2018 and was re-elected for a second term in 2022. As mayor, Crompton has focused on issues such as housing, climate action, and visitation management. He has been actively involved in initiatives to increase affordable housing, enhance climate action strategies, and manage tourism to benefit the community.  In addition to his mayoral duties, Crompton is known for his love of outdoor activities, including skiing and mountain biking, which align with Whistler’s vibrant outdoor culture.  He maintains an active presence on social media, engaging with the community and sharing insights into his work and personal interests. Crompton’s deep connection to Whistler and his commitment to public service continue to shape his leadership as he works towards the sustainable development and well-being of the community.
