Islas Pescadores
The Fishers Island , also called the Big Island , is an island belonging to Peru located in the Pacific Ocean , about 7 km west of the coast of the department of Lima . With an area of 16.45 hectares , it is the largest island of the set of islands that make up the so-called Fishermen’s Group Islands . 1 2 The island stands out as being the habitat of numerous species of seabirds of great importance in Peru. 3 For this reason, in 2009 Pescadores island was protected by law within theNational Reserve Guaneras Island, Islet and Point System , a natural reserve that protects and preserves representative samples of the biological diversity of the marine-coastal ecosystems of Peru.
