Island of Ortigia, Italy

Ortygia is a small yet breathtaking island which is the historical centre of the city of Syracuse, Sicily. The island, also known as Città Vecchia, contains many historical landmarks. The name originates from the Ancient Greek ortyx, which means “Quail”. Once you’ve seen Siracusa’s fine mainland archaeological sights this pleace will stay in your heart for thousands of years.
