Imire Animal Park, Harare, Zimbabwe

Located 105km east of Harare, Imire Safari Ranch was built on a farm where indigenous wildlife – including black rhinos and elephants – were once hunted to clear land for farming. It now contributes enormously to the conservation of Zimbabwean wildlife. It is renowned for breeding and releasing black rhinos into Matusadona National Park and for providing orphan elephants a home. There is a student volunteer program, and accommodation in lodges or camping. Travel 70km on the Mutare road; 3km before Marondera you will see an Imire signpost – turn right here. Drive for 2.5km, turn left at the Imire sign, drive for 40km. Visit Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe Epic Route © Monika Newbound
